Green Card Maintenance

Possessing and carrying a valid Green Card at all times for an alien to the land of the United States for working and living purposes are mandatory if the person is permanent resident aged 18 years or more. A Green Card is issued with a validity upto 10 years, or 2 years for conditional residents, and it needs to be renewed six months or 180 days before the due date of expiration. The card is supposed to be a valid proof for Employment Eligibility Verification, procuring the Social Security Card and Driver's Licence. For persons travelling abroad, Green Card is to be produced for re-admission in case that one returns in less than one year, but a re-entry permit is required if one returns not within one year.

C)Holders can get impunity from the laws of the United States in some cases , state of residence and local jurisdictions.

The Green Card holders need to remember that they are considered responsible residents and are ot deliver responsibilities to the society. They include the following :-

A) Holders need to file Income Tax Returns and let the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and State Taxing Authorities keep abreast of their income.

B) Holders are supposed to abide by all the democratic forms and never try to subvert the interest of the nation in a way or the other.

C) Holders need to be registering with the Selective Service if they are the male aged between 18 and 25.

D) Holders are obliged to abide by the laws of the land of the United States.
